MIAMI HOUSE

Biscayne Park is one of Miami's oldest planned communities, its canopied streets and modest original cottages carrying a particular character that newer development in the city has largely lost. This residence for a young professional couple takes that context seriously, drawing on the neighborhood's architectural history while committing fully to a contemporary sensibility: clean lines, honest materials, and a restrained palette that lets light, shadow, and landscape do the work.

Privacy was the governing constraint. Surrounded on all sides by neighboring properties, the design turns inward, organizing the plan around a private courtyard and garden that bring greenery and natural light deep into the heart of the home. The street facade is composed and quiet, revealing little. Inside, the spaces open generously to these protected outdoor rooms, creating a sense of expansiveness that the footprint alone would not suggest.

Materials were chosen with discipline and care: a limited palette of surfaces that reward close attention, age gracefully in the Miami climate, and hold their calm against the energy of the city beyond. The result is a home that is at once open and protected, modern and grounded, a genuine retreat in the middle of an urban neighborhood.
