DESERT PALISADES 6
This residence above Palm Springs is conceived as a journey as much as a home. Sited on a sloping parcel at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains, the design takes full advantage of the topography, using the natural descent of the land to choreograph an arrival sequence that unfolds gradually, revealing the house and its landscape one layer at a time.

Visitors enter at the lowest point of the site, welcomed into an entry that sets the tone before releasing them onto a gently ascending circulation spine. Bedrooms branch quietly from this path, each oriented toward the inner garden and pool that occupy the sheltered heart of the site. The journey builds with intention. At the uppermost level, the main living spaces open fully, and the experience shifts: turning back toward the site, the full composition reveals itself at once, the central garden encircled by the arms of the house, the pool catching the mountain light, and the city of Palm Springs spread across the valley far below.

Materials and details are calibrated to the desert: earthy, durable, and deeply connected to the colors and textures of the San Jacinto foothills. The architecture earns its views by making the path to them worthwhile.
