CEDAR HOUSE
With the house only accessible by foot—about 60 yards from the nearest parking—the approach sets the tone: this is a destination, not a pass-through. Nestled along a quiet stretch of Puget Sound shoreline in Woodmont Beach Club, this full renovation of a 1920s beach cabin that was remodeled in the early 80s, was a deeply personal and professionally formative project—designed by the owner’s youngest daughter, architect, Maggie Cooper, for her parents’ next chapter in life. The home, with its layered community history and sweeping 180-degree views of Puget Sound, balances moody Northwest aesthetics with warm, natural materials. The house evokes a quiet, San Juan-style escape just minutes from the airport and a short drive into the city of Seattle. This project embraces its context and proximity to the Sound and reflects a thoughtful generational exchange of care and design that creates the perfect destination for spending time with family and connecting with nature.
