SEATTLE REDUX

A 1910 classic craftsman-style house in Seattle was completely transformed into a two-story home for a growing family.  A rotting roof, dangerously out-of-date electrical wiring and corroding plumbing were in desperate need of repair.   After carefully removing the unusable portions of the structure, a new second floor was added.  Beautiful wood details on the interior were preserved and used as inspiration for more stylized details at the second floor.  To unify the interior the new and old floors were all stained a deep espresso color, and walls were painted shades of white.  New, energy-efficient wood windows replaced the old and the exterior was clad in traditional white stucco and large panels of corten steel.  Italian marble was used throughout the kitchen and bathrooms, with coal-colored ceramic tile for durability on the floor of wet areas.   Custom-designed cabinetry in oak and maple veneer is installed throughout the project, tailored to the storage needs of the family. Interior furnishings were an eclectic mix of modern classics and new pieces collected by the owners over the years.
